Our Approach                Adequate Nutrient Intakes for Preserving and Restoring Homeostasis

Homeostasis is the culmination of complex and vital regulatory mechanisms by which normal cellular activity, and organ systems function regulate the organism’s physiology and adaptive changes in response to physiological demands or environmental insults. Homeostasis adjusts the body’s internal balance within a limit beyond which dysregulations affect the organism’s overall performance and often lead to pathological symptoms.

Nutrients are the raw materials that fuel cellular activity and that support physiologic and metabolic functions needed for the maintenance of normal organism function. Nutrient deficiencies (resulting from inadequate intakes, impaired absorption, increased physiological demand, or increased excretion) normally develop into physiological adaptive responses, but they eventually evolve into clinical and pathological symptoms.

Our Approach aims at providing Adequate Nutrient Intakes for Preserving Normal Homeostasis but also for Restoring Disabled Regulation Mechanisms for disease prevention and management.  This is achieved by addressing fudamental parameters

· Optimization of cellular activity and tissue/organ function by timely providing, sufficient and adequate nutrient supplies to meet continuous as well as intermittent increased demands.

· Reduction of the metabolic burden that is imposed on organ systems (cardiac, pulmonary, renal, hepatic, and musculoskeletal) by imbalances in nutrient intakes, thereby minimizing the risk of stimulating compensatory responses and/or adaptive changes that may contribute to cellular injury and pathology.

· Support of nutrient-dependent cellular defence systems including anti-oxidant protection against free radical damage, detoxification enzymes, and immune function.
